In
Support of Fine Music
We
wish to express our appreciation to our
subscribers and friends who have generously
supported our Annual Fund and contributed to
our Endowed Funds. These gifts make it
possible for the Pioneer Valley Symphony &
Chorus to continue its mission of bringing
musical programming of exceptional quality to
the greater western Massachusetts community.
Ticket
sales cover barely 25% of our operating
expenses, which means that the Symphony
depends on donations, grants and corporate
sponsorships. Your support is critical to our
continued success. As we strive to bring you
fabulous live performances, we ask you to
consider making a tax-deductible gift of cash
or appreciated securities to the Symphony's
2006-07 Annual Fund or Endowed Funds.
Contributions
of appreciated securities, owned for at least
a year, may result in greater tax savings
because you can bypass capital gains taxes
otherwise owed. Such a gift may allow you to
take a tax deduction for the fair market value
of the securities. Consult with your tax
advisor before making any such gift. Please
notify the PVS prior to your gift's
transaction, and we will explain the simple
procedures to follow.
Under
the new "Pension Protection Act,"
IRA owners who are 70 - 70 1/2 or older as of
2006 or 2007 can make a charitable
contribution directly from their IRA, up to a
limit of $100,000. The amount of the gift can
be counted towards your "required minimum
distribution" for that year, Again,
please consult your financial advisor.
The
Endowed Funds of the Pioneer Valley Symphony
offer you the opportunity to support the
Symphony's financial future for future
generations. You may choose
among three established funds or you may endow
your own fund to honor or memorialize a family
member or friend of the Symphony. Gifts to any
of our funds may be given in memoriam or to
commemorate a special occasion. Bequests or planned gifts are another way to
benefit the Symphony.
We
express our deepest appreciation to all who
have contributed to our Endowed Funds in the
past. The following are our currently
established funds:
The
Nathan and Polly Gottschalk Fund
Established in 1993 to bring young artists and
local talent, as well as established stars, to
perform with the orchestra;
50th
Anniversary Fund
Established in 1989 to support the ongoing
activities of the orchestra;
The
Jean Pitman Turner Chorus Fund
Established in 1995 to benefit the Pioneer
Valley Symphony Chorus.
