The PVS Annual Fund
The Pioneer Valley Symphony & Chorus celebrates its 71st anniversary this 2009-10 season! Under the dynamic leadership of Music Director Paul Phillips, who is celebrating his 16th year with the PVS, and Chorus Director Ellen Gilson Voth, who is in her first year, more than 200 volunteer auditioned PVS instrumentalists and singers perform at an impressive level of musical excellence recognized throughout the symphony world (see http://www.pvso.org/SymphonyMag.pdf).
As a result of the generosity of our circle of donors last season, the PVS ended with a balanced budget. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to the Annual Fund, which provided much needed funds for our operating budget.
The PVS truly depends on the generosity of donors like you, as ticket sales cover less than 25% of performance costs, even though we are very frugal! We also keep our ticket prices affordable. In recent years, individual and corporate gifts to the PVS have provided in excess of 50% of our annual operating budget. In these trying economic times, corporate and foundation support of the arts has inevitably eroded, thus even more so, our concerts simply would not be possible without you, without our community's support. Thus the PVS Annual Fund is an evermore critical component of our continued existence.
Your tax-deductible gift to the 2009-10 Annual Fund ensures that the PVS will continue to play a central role in the cultural life of our valley, with concerts performed in Greenfield and Northampton this season. Each gift counts and is deeply appreciated by our musicians and our staff. We all thank you for your support!
One child wrote after attending the PVS Education Concert: "I loved everything about the concert, it was phenomenal. There nothing else to say, it was just phenomenal!" Please help us make live music matter for this child and many others whose lives the PVS has touched through concerts and in-school programs. We invite you to give as generously as possible.
